Due to a ticket snafu, I had to walk down to XYZ Park this afternoon to pick up my tickets for the season. (I’m going tomorrow… a chance for me to test out the Wi-Fi access and write one of the first blog entries posted from inside a ballpark. I think.)
Anyway, the park was buzzing, even five hours before gametime. There were scalpers everywhere, presumably galvanized by Bonds’ 660th homer last night. There were also people in military uniform — a color guard? a ship in port? — and lots and lots of kids on spring break. The Dugout Store was packed. My wife bought my daughter a pink Giants baseball cap. Not sure about the color choice, but it’s sure cute.
In any event, even five hours before a baseball game, Willie Mays plaza is electric. I’m looking forward to tonight’s game, assuming I can actually find Fox Sports Net Plus. Everyone’s claiming it’s DirecTV channel 655, but my TiVo seems to think that channel 655 is showing the Dodgers-Padres game tonight.
