Interesting piece on Hardball Times from a fellow who has just visited the new parks in San Diego and Philadelphia, adding to his collection of parks — he’s seen all the active parks since 1975, apparently.
It’s fun to see his ratings of all the current parks, 1 to 30. (I disagree with his placement of Safeco in second place, and would argue that PNC trumps Fenway.) And it’s interesting to get a first-hand account of someone who has been to both of the new parks.
(I will be in Fenway park next Thursday night, in a really, REALLY expensive seat. We’ll see if it improves my opinion of the old dump, now that the Sox are owned by someone who actually wants to take care of the fans in the seats while gouging them.)
Some minor San Diego nitpicks: It’s Petco or PETCO, not PetCo. And it’s the Gaslamp District, not the “Gaslight.” But otherwise, it’s definitely worth a read.
Now I gotta go. The flailing Giants are wrapping up this disastrous homestand, and I’ve got a front-row seat! I’m not bringing the PowerBook this time, though.
