Nearly every day, I will stumble across some article somewhere on the Web that I find interesting, amusing or — more often than not — extremely irritating. And I will find myself saying things like, “You know, I should sit down and write something pointing out why this article is interesting, amusing, or — more often than not — extremely irritating and post it on the Idiot Sports Weblog so that the seven or eight people who stumble by here regularly can share my interest, amusement, or irritation.” And then what happens is, I forget to do anything about it.
But every now and again, someone else will come across that same article I did and — even better still! — write something more intelligent and scathing than I could ever hope to produce.
Such is the case today, with Joe Morgan’s non-sensical ramblings about infielders at ESPN.com. “Dear Lord, someone needs to write something about this,” I said in the middle of my empty office. And then I went back to work.
Fortunately, David Cameron at USS Mariner did write something about Morgan’s column — and it’s bitingly brilliant. The upshot of the article:
This entire piece is an ode to [Morgan’s] own greatness and a tribute to friends of his. It’s drivel, and for a site that extolls itself as the “worldwide leader in sports”, its a black mark on their reputation. Time to toss Joe Morgan into the John Kruk Memorial Ignored Pile.
And now I can get back to the important task of not writing things.

I work with a gentleman who was at one point reasonably high up at ESPN.com, and he assures me that in real life, Joe Morgan is completely out of his mind crazy insane. I have no problem believing this.
