That said, Ric Bucher’s column on the sorry state of USA Basketball is a great read. And the nub of his gist — that forming a full-time national team, even if it’s composed entirely of nobodies, is a much saner alternative than the current system of patching together a team of the best-available all-stars for a few weeks every Olympiad — is absolutely correct.
