Swish!

As I write this, Nick Swisher, Oakland’s first-round pick in the 2002 draft, is making his Major League debut in tonight’s A’s-Blue Jays game. As befits a player featured in Moneyball, Swisher drew a walk in his first plate-appearance.
And somewhere, Joe Morgan’s head explodes at the sight of the A’s adding another guy who gets on base.
(Swisher’s second plate appearance? A double, with him scoring on Eric Byrnes’ double later in the inning. Why, yes, I am gloating prematurely.)
