Whose Mondo? Our Mondo. Sterling defense from Giants new and old, and a nifty save in the Benitezenth, er, Beninthtez Inning, eh… forget it.
Meanwhile, some brutal defense by the Dodgers. Poor Jeff Kent… he ain’t no first baseman. And Carrara? Ouch.
Nice to see Jason Schmidt get the win (despite giving up an Oquendo-like home run to Cesar Izturis); Derek Lowe deserved better, honestly. He was let down.
And what have they done to the dead body of Edgardo Alfonzo? Whichever reanimated spirit now inhabits that form, we salute you!
Another opening day win! Huzzah! All is right with the world today.
