What’s Next — Mock Coinflips?

Posted by Philip Michaels at 01:26 PM in Basketball, Media

Lord knows I hate picking on ESPN — The Lord: You do? I always got the impression that you kind of dug it. — but when the Worldwide Sports Leader is running a Mock NBA Draft Lottery, what else can I do but pick away?

Seriously, this is what it’s come to? Glorified exercises in random number generation? We’re talking about ping-pong balls being randomly selected out of a hopper. What is so difficult about this concept that we need to break out the Macromedia Flash to illustrate the fact that the Atlanta Hawks are likely to wind up with modest recompense for their terrible, terrible season?

On the bright side, by being made aware that the Draft Lottery is on TV tonight, I can now conciously avoid tuning in, instead of unintentionally missing the broadcast as I was previously planning.

This is actually an updated bit ESPN.com has had kicking around each year since LeBron got drafted.

When there's intersting players and difference of opinion between teams on who should be picked in the 1-5 picks and your team is involved, it can be semi-intersting as a guide for who to root for when your team doens't win the ping pong battle.

With the least noteworthy group since the Kwame/Curry/Chandler draft, it's pretty pointless - but since they had the code and Chad Ford needs something to do while changing airplanes...

My local team, the Bucks, won.

Now if I only followed the NBA...
