What, This Blog Is Still Around?

Posted by Philip Michaels at 08:41 PM in Site Administration

Hi, remember me? I’m the schmuck who used to write here.

No, not the schmuck who’s always rambling on and on about Cal. No, the other schmuck. Writes about the A’s every now and again. Picks fights with people who post here. Lovely singing voice. Right — that schmuck.

So, you’re probably wondering where I’ve been. (If you’re not, just pretend like you have been — my pyschiatrist says it’s best for my complex.) Well, the burdens of home ownership, they are demanding. Plus, I’ve gotten slammed with some deadlines in the paying job, and it doesn’t help that my boss is a mean, no-good, terrible man who asks me to do horrible, questionable things. I only pray he doesn’t read this site.

And what a time to have no energy or leisure time in which to run off at the mouth about sports. Unjust GM firings! Inexplicable GM resignations! Even more inexplicable Cy Young recipients! And, of course, this the week that the words “abandoned sausage factory” entered the lexicon of A’s fans everywhere.

We’ll get to it all in short order, of course. (Unless we don’t.) In the meantime, while I nurse myself back to strength with a couple of stiff Trader Woodies — a drink that was not named after the former Seattle Mariners GM, incidentally — consider my entry in the Score Bard’s latest Humbugardy contest. The challenge: come up with a haiku that best describes Wrigley Field and let me say, with all due modesty, that my response — #4 for those of you who hate scrolling — was nothing short of inspired. Sadly, the judges did not feel the same, which only goes to show you that my work will only be appreciated after I am did.

So, middle of next week at the latest, then.
