Wireless Ballpark Blogging

Posted by Jason Snell at 12:28 PM

So Phil and I are at XYZ Park today, on a partly cloudy day in San Francisco. And thanks to the miracle of wireless access, YOU… ARE… THERE!

Today’s game here at XYZ Park is a split-squad affair. While Bonds, Durham, Alfonzo, and the pitching staff are continuing their battle with the ravages of time and injury, the rest of the Giants are fighting the Brewers with one arm tied behind their backs.

Pitching today is not Joe TBD as previously thought, but Brian Cooper, a minor-league starter who showed some promise in the Giants’ last exhibition game against the A’s. Cooper’s been sloppy through 2 (current score, 2-0 Brewers!), and I feel like shouting at him: “Pitch better, kid. Bonds is getting a massage. He ain’t coming to bail you out.”

It’s fun to be at the ballpark, even though right now I’m the geek in the front row with the laptop.

(Update: Clearly I am far from the first person to have this idea. And I even know the “crazy kids” who are referred to in that blog entry, although Jason’s description makes them seem more kooky and superficial than they actually are.)

Hey that Wi-Fi connection was asking for it. So the Idiots obliged, blogging straight from the stands at ol' Pac Bell Park. Hey, it had to be better than watching the product Felipe ran out on the field today....

So I'm sitting about eight rows behind home plate right now at the Giants vs. Brewers game. SBC has gratiously provided free WiFi for the entire stadium this year and I'm taking advantage of it inbetween innings. Pretty cool, actually....
