I Heartily Endorse This Product And/Or Service

Posted by Philip Michaels at 12:41 PM in Media

“Shameless link-whoring,” Mac Thomason sheepishly writes in the comments to this post. Perhaps, we respond, but a vital serice to a much-abused sports-viewing public nevertheless. And one we urge all three readers of The Idiot Sports Blog to visit early and often.

The gist:

Our task is simple: to determine, via a time-tested method (the 64-team elimination tournament as seen in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, which ESPN used to show in its pre-sucking days) which ESPN broadcasting personality is the most totally loathsome and most deserves to suffer permanent paralysis of the vocal cords.

Seriously, Mac, did you think we would pass on the opportunity to kick sand in ESPN’s face? Are our ways really that mysterious to people?

So go. Vote. Vote now. Because if Mitch “Writing the lede on the way to the ballpark” Albom doesn’t trounce John Kruk in their first-round match-up, the five people you’ll meet in heaven will beat you savagely.

[Update: And now comes word that Idiot whipping boys Mitch Albom and Mike Lupica have lost their first-round match-ups. We denounce this turn of events! Why, it’s nothing but a goddamned popularity contest! Or… um… an unpopularity contest… or something.]

Thanks, Michael, great link. I say Stu Scott is the biggest diaper dandy and cuts down the nets when this is all over! Can the authors really come up with 64 different personalities?

Ooops, I mean Michaels. Typo. One of Berman's interns temporarily got into the booth where I was writing this.

Obviously they already DID come up with 64 or else they wouldn't have put up the tourney.

When I see Skip Bayless in that bracket, I am going to stuff the damn ballot box.

We had at least 100, actually. There was no problem filling the bracket.

Lupica losing was a fluke. We had him against Brantley when we were linked on the first page of Primer, and the baseball fans stuffed the box. If I'd kept the voting open for another day I think Lupica would have won.

I second my partner in crime, Mac on the Lupica thing.

In fact, we started the 2nd round today, and Brantley and Kruk are already stealing way, way too many votes from pure evil entities like Jim Gray & Stu Scott.

I think there's a Baseball cult out there that hates these guys and they are determined to vote against the 2 fat ex-jocks no matter who the opponent. I disagree with this and feel good that Gray and Scott will still deservedly pull out wins.
