As Phil has noted on many occasions, L.A. Times columnist Bill Plaschke is horrible. I’d call him the worst sports columnist in America, but with Skip Bayless running around, the likes of Plaschke (and SI’s once-great, now-detestable Rick Reilly) can rest easy.
Anyway, Plaschke’s column today on the firing of GM Paul DePodesta was what you might have expected: a big dose of I-told-you-so.
Some will say this means the Dodgers are in chaos. I say this means they are finally seeking order. Some will say DePodesta wasn’t given a fair chance. I say he never should have been hired in the first place.
Some say this makes Dodger owner McCourt look like a man who has lost control. I say this is about him finally taking control, however clueless and callous he appears.
Some say, a hasty firing. I say, a smart trade.
Some say the earth is round, Bill. You say the earth is not only flat, but rides on the back of a giant turtle. Named Vinny.
