Lightning Round Predictions

Posted by Philip Michaels at 04:16 PM in Baseball

So that Red Sox-Cardinal re-match I predicted at the start of the postseason gets started in a little less than an hour.

Hmmm? It doesn’t? Man, why do I even bother?

In that just-going-through-the-motions vein then, here’s my instant World Series prediction, fired off without any thought or analysis as I have to leave to attend the Cal-Wazzu game in a few minutes.

Astros in six.

In what figures to be a magnificiently pitched series, I like the team with the slightly better pitching staff and lights-out (except when Albert Pujols is batting) closer. Runs figure to be at a premium this series, especially since the White Sox will likely give away outs at a generous clip in keeping with their ill-advised m.o. I expect the two teams to split the games this weekend, Houston to take two of three at the Juice Box, and the Astros to wrap things up by this time next week.

So bet the house a Chicago sweep.
