Advice for Our Friends at Stanford…

Posted by Philip Michaels at 03:05 AM in Basketball, Cal Football

… if you keep putting UC Davis on the schedule, you’re going to have a really hard time holding on to that prestigious Directors’ Cup. First football, now basketball:

This is starting to get old for Stanford. The football team was jolted by an 0-2 UC Davis team on Sept. 17, and on Sunday night, the winless Aggies struck down the Cardinal men’s basketball team.

Yes, a school that is in the third year of a four-year transition from Division II to Division I has become the Cardinal Killer. The Aggies — who had lost their first four games (to Northern Arizona, Dartmouth, Harvard and Sacramento State) — shocked Stanford 64-58 at The Pavilion.

Tough break. But keep your chin up, Stanford — I’m sure there’s a UC school out there somewhere that you can beat. Maybe an extra-mural team at UC Merced or something.
