So apparently, after Ken Macha and Billy Beane had their promised meeting to talk about the pitching, they decided that Esteban Loaiza had a really sore left trapezius muscle. He’s on the 15-day DL now, retroactive to April 24.
No word yet on how Loaiza feels about this diagnosis, considering that he kept insisting he was the picture of health as recently as Sunday.
While Loaiza “convalesces” from his “injury,” his roster spot will be taken by Bobby Kielty, who hopefully can work out some sort of Frequent Rider deal with The Capitol Corridor, the way his season is shaping up. Kielty’s return means two things:
• The notion that Randy Keisler might take Loaiza’s spot in the rotation remains just that; look for either Saarloos, Duchscherer, or Gaudin to get the start on Thursday, depending on how the rest of the week shapes up.
• My wife’s plans to bring a “Free Bobby Kielty!” sign to her next A’s game have been thwarted once again.
Update: It’s Halsey and Saarloos, at least according to Ken Macha on the A’s pre-game show. And you would think he’d be in a position to know.

My good thoughts actually did some good! It's something when you start celebrating guys being demoted or put on the DL.
Hey, I would like nothing better than to have Esteban Loaiza work his way through this thing, be it physical, mental, or just plain bad luck. But right now, he can't be pitching in a competitive baseball game -- not the way he's throwing -- and if it takes a stint on the DL to help come up with a solution, then so be it.
