Pretty interesting column from C.W. Nevius in the Chronicle today on how the Bay Area is becoming quite the region for fans of international soccer. But what caught the eye of my eagle-eyed co-worker Curt was the caption to this photo.

The Chronicle’s caption in the printed edition reads:
Sol Campbell, Steven Gerrard, Brian Rovner, Michael Sullivan at Kezar Pub cheer as Arsenal scores in European title game.
Now I happened to watch the Barcelona-Arsenal match and I saw that goal in question. And let me tell you: if Sol Campbell was able to score a goal against Barca while simultaneously cheering that goal at a bar in San Francisco, then that man truly is a magician on the pitch.
Also, if the chap in the Carlsberg jersey is supposed to be Steven Gerrard, then I have to say he’s really let himself go since Saturday’s FA Cup final in Cardiff.
This is another object lesson, aspiring photo-journalists, to not take it for granted that the men drinking beers at 11 in the morning are being straight-forward with you when you ask them to identify themselves.
