It’s so much easier to write these things when you’re wringing your hands in misery at the terrible way Cal gave away the game. What can I say about a game like this? Cal dominated every phase of the game. They scored in the 40s for a fifth straight week. They stifled an Oregon team with a remarkably high-powered offense. They were never, ever not in control of this game.
Longshore’s performance reminded me of the heyday of Aaron Rodgers. He was remarkably accurate, floating rainbows as well as zipping in quick passes when they needed. The receivers are catching passes and running crazy. DeSean Jackson’s punt runback, if you haven’t seen it yet, was a thing to behold — he started right, turned left, basically went halfway across the field, then turned back right and ran it all the way back. Crazy, Reggie Bush-style stuff.
The yellow jerseys? Sorry, I can’t endorse them. They look like Oregon’s crazy yellow uniforms in two ways: they’re yellow and they’re ugly. Go back to the blue, kids. Bananas are good, but blue is better.
By the way, no TV for Cal-Washington State. Yeah, who needs to put a Top Ten team on TV?
